The Fuzzy Family

Children will introduce a "family" of stuffed animals and create a special event for them.

What You Need

  • Three or four stuffed animals per pair of children
  • Puppet theater (optional)
  • Creative ideas

What to Do

  1. Have children work as partners. Distribute a "family" of stuffed animals to each pair. Children may contribute stuffed animals of their own.

  2. Tell children that their animals are members of the Fuzzy family. Children can give each animal a name and a family relationship (choose among mother, father, sister, brother, grandparent, uncle, aunt, cousin).

  3. Ask children to plan and present a family event for the Fuzzy family. Examples: a party, a picnic, a day at the beach, or a camping trip.

  4. Have partners introduce their family and present the event to the class. They can do so in the form of a puppet show, an interview with the family members, or an oral description.
