What to Do
- Ask students to choose and research a sports star from the past century. To get them started, you may want to direct them to a Web site which offers a list of top athletes and their biographies.
- Have students prepare a short report on their chosen athlete. Ask them to emphasize any obstacles the athlete faced before or during his or her career, and discuss how those obstacles were overcome.
- Ask students to present their reports to the class.
